Application
This is a self-installing platform (M.O.A.B.). The platform was designed by IV Oil & Gas and built by Herema Vlissingen.
The platform weighs 9000 tonnes and its dimensions are 63m x 42m x 24m.
Problem
This offshore platform is for self-installation and must be easily movable.
To achieve this, the platform must not be welded but assembled with bolted joints, for example. However, it is almost impossible to properly secure bolted joints beyond M160.
Solution
Only Superbolt tensioner nuts make it possible to fix large bolts simply, and with precision. We provide the complete assembly necessary to fix the platform on its pillars.
The bridge was mounted on the pillars with 16 M240 Superbolts, 16 studs of about 5 metres and 16 special locknuts, using the cup and ball bearing principle. The pretension reached 16,780 kN. The fixing operation took two days.
Result
Now, the platform can be moved in record time and with minimal effort.
